Artwork,  acrylic paintings, oil paintings, watercolor paintings, mixed media painting | North Port, Florida

Bonnie E. Rodgers artwork includes beautiful acrylic paintings as well as watercolor, oils and mixed media paintings.  Born in Columbus, Wisconsin and living throughout the eastern regions of the United States has given me, artist Bonnie Rodgers, a lot of subject matter to paint.  Married to Samuel Rodgers, raising three children, and now enjoying seven grandchildren and a great grandchild is my pleasure.

When I found art through therapy for injuries, I discovered a love for expression with vibrant colors no matter whether I am painting acrylic, oil, mixed media or watercolor or using pastels to enhance my mixed media artwork. en Plein Aire painting keeps me connected to the land, life, and nature. No matter where I am I take a part of it away with me ... within my soul.  A Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting, a Bachelor of Science with a Marketing emphasis, and a Masters of Fine Art, magna cum laude in all three, helped me to believe that I could enter the exciting and challenging journey of an art career with an understanding of my artistic voice.  I now serve on committees for art regionally and hold membership in national organizations which help me to compete nationally for prestigious awards and keep connected to the heartbeat of the art community.   National Mother's Incorporation recognized my winning piece, a watercolor painting titled "Tea and Roses" as a second place winner after receiving first place in Nebraska.  Numerous awards for my artwork like the prestigious “Grumbacher” award and medallion from the Grumbacher Company in recognition of outstanding artwork has given my work validity. As a business owner, recognition with Who’s Who in Executive and Professionals was an honor.  Scholarships  have helped  to advance my knowledge by continuing to study with national and international artists like George Kountoupus with oil paintings, Larry Blovits with pastel paintings, Rose Edin, Sheila Parsons,  Paul Jackson and Anne Abgott with watercolor paintings, George "Papa" Tutt with acrylic paintings and mixed media paintings to name a few.  Now  I paint... the fabric of my life.

Teaching adult  classes and workshops has become a passion because I am able to interact with adults to experience how art can be a way of expressing the pain of bumps and bruises sustained by life.  Students say my classes are upbeat, full of energy, and provide alot of useful knowledge.  My projects and critiques have been widely acclaimed as a “kick start” to the artist’s ego and for not holding back on all the professional techniques I have found to work.   Students leave with a new vision of their work and a willingness to take their old paintings out and look at them with “new” eyes.   Check out my Adult Art Classes and Workshops and children's art classes.

Traveling has become a pleasure that enables me to capture different subject matter nationally and abroad through “en Pleine Aire” and photographs that I incorporate into my art to complete stories with oil paintings, watercolor paintings, and acrylic paintings.   Dr. Becky Olephant helped me to understand my need to find rewarding activity that made my life meaningfully happy and Dr. Francis Thurber encouraged me to journalize and sketch  ideas and thoughts for new paintings and recognize my role in the arts for women.  Dr. George "Papa" Tutt gave me courage to continue to paint oil paintings, acrylic paintings, watercolor paintigs and not let anyone stop me for painting mixed media paintings too.

My art disclaimer: Over the years, critics have tried to push me to declare my artistic style, though style is little more than a technique that galleries, art critics, or art historians use to recognize one work from another, and declare its worth. I want my work to reflect my diverse interests, skills, and mastery of various media techniques. I strive to be honest, create from my heart, and let my soul soar in the creative process. Reining me in stops the creative being that I am.  I will not allow anyone to limit my expressivity.
